Premier1’s Yalgoo Gold Results Spotlight Exploration Risks and Untapped Potential
Premier1 Lithium Limited has reported multiple high-grade gold assay results from its Yalgoo Project, revealing significant new mineralisation zones and setting the stage for a targeted drilling campaign in early 2025.
- Rock chip assays reveal gold grades up to 128.5 g/t at Crescent East
- High-grade samples identified in both known and previously untested areas
- New greenfield target discovered at Mulloo Hill with grades up to 18.1 g/t Au
- Drill program planned for Q1 2025 pending heritage clearance
- Regional lithostructural modelling underway to refine exploration targets
Premier1 Lithium's Yalgoo Project Delivers Promising Gold Assays
Premier1 Lithium Limited (ASX: PLC) has unveiled compelling results from its initial geological mapping and rock chip sampling program at the Yalgoo Project, located in Western Australia's prolific Murchison Region. The program, designed to enhance geological understanding and identify mineralisation controls, returned multiple high-grade gold assays, including an outstanding 128.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold sample at the Crescent East prospect.
These results are significant not only for their grades but also because they span both historically known mineralised trends and previously untested zones. Notably, the Crescent East area, situated approximately 500 metres east of the established Crescent prospect, revealed a surface anomaly extending over 500 metres of strike with grades reaching as high as 128.5 g/t Au and 78.9 g/t Au. This discovery highlights the underexplored nature of the project and suggests substantial upside potential.
New Greenfield Targets and Regional Potential
Adding to the excitement, Premier1 identified a new greenfield target at Mulloo Hill, approximately 15 kilometres south of the Crescent/Wadgingarra area. Here, quartz veining within altered felsic intrusive rocks yielded assays up to 18.1 g/t Au. This prospect has not been subject to historical exploration, positioning it as a fresh opportunity for the company to expand its footprint in the region.
Other notable high-grade results came from Olive Queen (South), Bourkes United, and Broken Mount prospects, with assays ranging from 3.1 g/t to over 106 g/t Au. Many of these areas have seen limited historical drilling, underscoring the potential for Premier1 to delineate new resources through systematic exploration.
Strategic Exploration and Upcoming Drilling
Premier1’s Managing Director, Jason Froud, emphasised the importance of these findings: "The results confirm the high-grade gold potential of the Yalgoo Project area and highlight compelling targets for future exploration." The company is advancing a lithostructural interpretation integrating recent geophysical data, historical drilling, and soil sampling to refine drill targets.
Pending heritage clearance from the Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation, Premier1 plans to commence drill testing in the Wadgingarra area in the first quarter of 2025. This step will be critical in validating the surface sampling results and assessing the economic viability of the mineralisation.
Context Within the Murchison Gold Belt
The Yalgoo Project lies within the Archean greenstone belt of the Murchison Domain, a region known for structurally controlled epigenetic gold deposits. The geological setting includes mafic to ultramafic volcanic rocks, banded iron formations, and granitoid intrusions, all of which provide favourable conditions for gold mineralisation. Premier1’s exploration approach leverages this geological framework, focusing on shear zones and quartz veining that historically host significant gold mineralisation.
With a comprehensive sampling program of 168 rock chip samples and integration of modern geophysical datasets, Premier1 is well-positioned to advance its understanding of the project’s mineral systems and accelerate exploration efforts.
Bottom Line?
Premier1 Lithium’s high-grade gold discoveries at Yalgoo mark a pivotal step towards unlocking a potentially valuable resource, with drilling results in 2025 set to define the project's future trajectory.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the upcoming drilling confirm the extent and continuity of the high-grade gold zones identified?
- How might the new greenfield target at Mulloo Hill impact Premier1’s exploration strategy and resource potential?
- What are the implications of the lithostructural model for identifying additional undiscovered mineralisation within the Yalgoo Project?
