Geophysical Confirmation of Porphyry System

Belararox Limited (ASX: BRX) has announced compelling geophysical evidence confirming a copper porphyry system at its Malambo prospect, part of the Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) Project in Argentina's San Juan Province. This confirmation follows earlier assay results from rock chip and talus samples, alongside detailed geological mapping.

In December 2024, a drone magnetic survey conducted by DAMS Geophysics provided enhanced insights into the porphyry metal zoning predictions. The data, processed by Fathom Geophysics, employed Magnetisation Vector Inversion (MVI) modelling, which revealed two distinct magnetic zones characteristic of porphyry systems: a core of high magnetics surrounded by a halo of low magnetic response. This pattern aligns with classical porphyry models, attributed to magnetite depletion in phyllic alteration zones surrounding potassic cores.

Strategic Drilling Program Ahead

Building on these geophysical findings, Belararox has scheduled a two-hole drilling program at Malambo. Hole 1 is designed to test a deeper magnetic anomaly and intersect structural trends inferred from surface quartz veins and joint density. Hole 2 will target shallower magnetic highs identified by the drone survey. These anomalies correspond to porphyry targets predicted by established models from Halley et al. (2015) and Cohen (2011), reinforcing the scientific basis for the drill locations.

Managing Director Arvind Misra emphasized the significance of the MVI results, noting that the magnetic responses closely match the modelled porphyry systems and provide strong support for the selected drill sites. The company is poised to commence drilling shortly, pending completion of access road upgrades to meet safety standards.

Context Within the TMT Project and Regional Geology

The Malambo prospect is one of several targets within the TMT Project, which occupies a geologically prospective area between the prolific El Indio and Maricunga metallogenic belts. The project hosts multiple claims covering thousands of hectares, with exploration focused on copper, gold, and other metals critical to technology and renewable energy sectors.

Belararox’s exploration strategy integrates remote sensing data from ASTER and Sentinel-2 satellites, regional geological interpretations, and ground-based sampling to identify high-sulphidation epithermal and porphyry-style mineral systems. The Malambo discovery benefits from this multi-disciplinary approach, with geophysics now providing a crucial layer of confirmation ahead of drilling.
