Elizabeth Hill Drilling Set to Test Untapped Depths Amid Infrastructure Hopes
Errawarra Resources has awarded its first diamond drilling contract for the Elizabeth Hill silver project, with drilling set to begin shortly after the company’s May 19 General Meeting. This marks a key step in advancing exploration at one of Australia’s richest silver deposits.
- Diamond drilling contract awarded to West Core Drilling under partial drill-for-equity deal
- Drilling targets near-surface mineralisation, down-plunge extensions, and structural understanding
- Regional soil sampling campaign nearing completion with 1,766 soil and 89 rock chip samples collected
- Assay results expected within 6-8 weeks to guide further exploration
- Nearby Radio Hill processing plant offers potential processing infrastructure
Errawarra Advances Elizabeth Hill with Inaugural Drilling Contract
Errawarra Resources Ltd (ASX: ERW) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration campaign by awarding its inaugural diamond drilling contract for the Elizabeth Hill silver project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The contract has been awarded to West Core Drilling under a partial drill-for-equity arrangement, signalling both confidence in the project’s potential and a strategic approach to capital management.
Drilling is scheduled to commence shortly after Errawarra’s General Meeting on 19 May 2025, focusing on high-priority targets including near-surface mineralisation zones, down-plunge extensions of known deposits, and strategically placed holes designed to enhance geological and structural understanding of the mineralised system. This targeted approach aims to unlock further value from a project with a strong historical production record.
Ground Truthing and Regional Sampling Bolster Exploration
Recent site visits by Errawarra’s management and technical consultants have allowed for ground-truthing of drill targets, ensuring that the upcoming program is informed by the latest field data. Complementing the drilling, a regional soil sampling program is nearing completion, with 1,766 soil samples and 89 rock chip samples collected to date. The use of portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) technology in the field has enabled rapid qualitative assessment of samples, accelerating the identification of promising anomalies.
Laboratory assay results from these samples are expected within 6 to 8 weeks, which will provide critical insights to refine exploration strategies and potentially identify new mineralised zones within the extensive 180km land package consolidated by Errawarra. This package covers a significant portion of the Munni Munni fault system, a structure considered prospective for repetitive silver deposits.
Strategic Infrastructure and Historical Context
Adding to the project’s appeal is the proximity of the Radio Hill processing plant, owned by Artemis Resources (ASX: ARV), located just 15 kilometres north of Elizabeth Hill. Although currently in care and maintenance, this facility could offer a near-term processing solution, potentially reducing capital expenditure and accelerating development timelines.
Elizabeth Hill itself boasts a remarkable production history, having yielded 1.2 million ounces of silver from just 16,830 tonnes of ore at an extraordinary head grade of 2,194 grams per tonne. Mining ceased in 2000 due to low silver prices, but the deposit remains open at depth, and recent land consolidation enhances the potential for further discoveries.
Executive Director Bruce Garlick expressed optimism about the project’s trajectory, highlighting the value of the site visit and the infrastructure advantages. The upcoming drilling program represents a critical milestone in translating the project’s geological promise into tangible results.
Bottom Line?
As drilling kicks off, Errawarra’s ability to convert historical promise into new discoveries will be closely watched by investors.
Questions in the middle?
- What initial results will the upcoming drilling program yield regarding near-surface and down-plunge mineralisation?
- How will assay results from the regional soil and rock chip sampling influence the next phase of exploration?
- Could the Radio Hill processing plant be reactivated to support Elizabeth Hill’s development, and on what timeline?
