Exploration Breakthrough at Music Well

Augustus Minerals (ASX: AUG) has unveiled compelling early-stage exploration results from its Music Well gold project, located near Leonora in Western Australia’s renowned goldfields. The company’s recent rock chip sampling campaign, comprising 216 samples collected in April 2025, has yielded visible gold and high-grade assays that underscore the project’s potential.

At the Dodd’s prospect, a historic area previously obscured by soil and silt, Augustus identified subcropping quartz veins extending over 400 metres. Notably, assays revealed gold concentrations as high as 122.8 grams per tonne, with visible gold grains confirmed in samples. This discovery echoes the high-grade tenor seen at the nearby Clifton East prospect, reinforcing the significance of these granitoid-hosted veins.

New Targets and Regional Context

Beyond Dodd’s, the newly defined Black Cat East prospect has emerged as a promising target, with gold mineralisation traced along a 400-metre strike length. Situated just a few kilometres from Northern Star’s prolific Wonder gold mine, Black Cat East features quartz veins hosted in dolerite and mafic schist, marking a geological shift from the predominantly granitic terrain of the project.

Additional prospects such as Jindardie Northeast and St Patrick’s Well have also returned encouraging gold values, albeit at lower grades, suggesting a broader mineralised system within the 1,345 square kilometre tenement package. The Music Well project lies within the Leonora-Laverton Greenstone Belt, a district boasting over 28 million ounces of gold endowment, with several operating mines in close proximity.

Strategic Next Steps

Augustus Minerals is advancing its exploration with ongoing geological mapping and sampling to better delineate mineralised zones. Heritage surveys are underway at key prospects such as Clifton East and St Patrick’s Well, paving the way for reverse circulation and aircore drilling programs. These efforts aim to convert surface indications into drill-defined resources, a critical step toward assessing economic viability.

General Manager Exploration Andrew Ford highlighted the significance of the visible gold findings and the underexplored nature of the region, noting that the company is only beginning to tap into the area’s potential. The proximity to established mines and the structural links identified through geophysical data add further weight to the project’s promise.
