Maiden Resource Marks a Milestone

Anson Resources Ltd (ASX, ASN) has taken a significant step forward in its lithium ambitions with the completion of a maiden JORC Mineral Resource estimate for its Green River Lithium Project in southeastern Utah, USA. The estimate, derived from drilling data at the Bosydaba #1 well, covers just under a quarter of the project area but already outlines a substantial lithium-brine resource hosted within the Mississippian Leadville Limestone aquifer.

The resource delineation includes an indicated category containing 4,000 tonnes of elemental lithium (equivalent to 19,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent, LCE) and an inferred category with 16,000 tonnes of elemental lithium (84,000 tonnes LCE), combining for a total of approximately 103,000 tonnes LCE. This initial figure provides a foundation for the project’s potential as a lithium supplier amid growing global demand for battery metals.

Historic Well Re-entry Could Unlock More

Crucially, Anson has secured approvals from both federal and state authorities to re-enter the historic Mt Fuel-Skyline Geyser well, a move expected to significantly expand the resource base. This well, located within the project’s broader landholding, offers an opportunity to deepen understanding of the aquifer’s extent and lithium content. Pending assay results from this re-entry could materially increase the overall mineral resource estimate.

The project benefits from a mature oil and gas district setting, with extensive historical well data providing valuable geological and hydrogeological context. The Leadville Limestone is characterized by excellent porosity and permeability, favorable for lithium-brine accumulation and extraction.

Innovative Extraction Technology and Next Steps

Anson is advancing lithium recovery through Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology, which promises a more sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional evaporation ponds. The company has already established a demonstration pilot plant adjacent to the Bosydaba #1 well and is collaborating with technology partners to optimize lithium recovery processes.

Future work includes flow and pump testing to better understand the aquifer’s hydrological properties, monitoring aquifer drawdown, and further sampling to resolve discrepancies in lithium concentration assays observed between 2024 and 2025. The conservative resource estimate currently uses the more established 2024 assay data, while the higher 2025 lithium concentrations await confirmation.

Strategic Location and Land Tenure

The Green River Project spans over 77 square kilometers, comprising a mix of private lands, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) claims, and state leases, all secured under Anson’s 100% owned subsidiary. The project’s location on the Colorado Plateau within the Paradox Basin offers geological conditions conducive to lithium-brine deposits, including an arid climate, closed basin structures, and tectonic subsidence.

While some BLM claims overlap with Department of Defense restricted areas, Anson has navigated permitting challenges effectively to maintain exploration momentum.
