The Desert Star North Project covers approximately 3.75 square kilometres in San Bernardino County, strategically positioned just 13 kilometres north of the Mountain Pass REE Mine; one of the world’s largest and highest-grade rare earth operations; and only 3 kilometres north of the Colosseum Gold Mine, which boasts a substantial gold resource. The project lies within a structurally complex geological corridor known for hosting significant mineralisation, including major fault lines that have historically controlled mineral deposits in the region.

Initial Sampling and Pending Assays

Over the past weeks, Bayan Mining’s team collected 65 rock chip samples and 30 heavy mineral concentrate samples, which have been sent to ALS Laboratory in Reno, Nevada, for detailed analysis. The assays will test for rare earth elements, multi-element geochemistry, and gold content, with results anticipated within three to four weeks. These findings will be critical in refining exploration targets and determining the potential for economic mineralisation.

Infrastructure and Future Prospects

The project benefits from excellent infrastructure, including proximity to Interstate 15, high-voltage power lines servicing the Mountain Pass Mine, and a Union Pacific rail line within 25 kilometres, which could support future bulk logistics.
