Strategic Farm-In Secures Pinjin Tenements

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining Limited (ASX – KAL) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration ambitions by completing a $1.65 million farm-in to acquire a 75% interest in key tenements at the Pinjin Gold Project, located 140 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie. This move consolidates KalGold’s control over critical areas hosting the Kirgella Gift and Providence gold resources, as well as promising targets such as Lighthorse, T12, T15, and Wessex.

Drilling Confirms Primary Gold Beneath Lighthorse

During the June quarter, KalGold reported results from a 2,446-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program that successfully confirmed primary orogenic gold mineralisation beneath the Lighthorse prospect. This discovery, located under approximately 30 metres of transported cover, was previously identified through aircore drilling but lacked confirmation of primary mineralisation at depth. The RC drilling revealed consistent gold grades associated with shear and vein-hosted mineralisation, open both along strike and at depth, indicating a robust and potentially sizeable gold system.

Expanding the Gold Footprint with Aircore Drilling

Complementing the RC program, KalGold completed an extensive 4,710-metre aircore drilling campaign that more than doubled the strike length of gold mineralisation at Lighthorse from 600 metres to over 1,450 metres. The shallow, thick intercepts ended in mineralisation, suggesting the presence of higher-grade zones at depth. Notably, a second strong anomaly was identified 800 metres north of the original discovery, extending the known mineralised corridor to over six kilometres and remaining open to the north and south.

Geophysical Survey Enhances Targeting

To further refine exploration targets, KalGold completed a 9.5 square kilometre Sub-Audio Magnetic (SAM) geophysical survey over the Lighthorse corridor and surrounding prospects. This high-resolution survey aims to delineate subsurface structures and mineralised zones concealed beneath transported cover, enhancing the precision of future drilling campaigns. Data processing is underway, with expectations that the survey will generate new high-confidence drill targets.

Robust Resource Base and Financial Position

KalGold’s total JORC Code (2012) Inferred Mineral Resource stands at 214,300 ounces of gold, combining resources from the Pinjin Project and the Bulong Taurus Project’s La Mascotte deposit. Both projects feature near-surface mineralisation amenable to open-pit mining, with grades exceeding 1.0 grams per tonne. The company maintains a strong balance sheet with $3.8 million in cash and no debt as of 30 June 2025, positioning it well to fund its upcoming largest RC drilling program and a diamond drilling campaign planned for the coming quarters.

Looking Ahead

KalGold is poised to build on its recent momentum with a substantial follow-up RC drilling program targeting extensions of the Lighthorse mineralisation and other high-priority targets within the Pinjin Gold Project. The company’s strategic expansion of its tenement footprint, including five new exploration licence applications, further underscores its commitment to establishing a significant presence in the highly prospective Laverton Tectonic Zone.

Bottom Line?

KalGold’s confirmed primary gold at Lighthorse and expanded footprint set the stage for a pivotal drilling campaign that could redefine its resource potential.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the upcoming larger RC drilling program confirm continuity and higher grades at depth beneath Lighthorse?
  • How quickly will the new tenement applications be granted, and what impact will they have on KalGold’s exploration pipeline?
  • What are the implications of the SAM geophysical survey results for identifying new, high-value drill targets?
