New Murchison Gold Limited (ASX, NMG) has unveiled compelling results from its ongoing regional exploration program within the Abbotts Greenstone Belt, a prolific gold-bearing region in Western Australia's Murchison district. The company’s extensive 677 square kilometre tenure has yielded multiple high-grade gold intersections across several prospects, including Airstrip, Lydia, Crescent, Battery, and Abbotts.

These results come as NMG advances development at its flagship Crown Prince Gold Mine, located 22 kilometres northwest of Meekatharra. With mining and crushing operations underway and first ore deliveries anticipated in September 2025, the exploration success adds a significant growth dimension to the company’s portfolio.

Noteworthy Drill Intercepts Highlight Potential

The drilling program has returned impressive intercepts, with standout results such as 3 metres at 39.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 12 metres depth at the Lydia prospect, including a 1 metre interval grading 111.7 g/t Au. Similarly, the Airstrip prospect revealed 20 metres at 3.36 g/t Au from 49 metres, featuring a 1 metre high-grade zone of 39.4 g/t Au. Other significant hits include 4 metres at 13.0 g/t Au at Battery and 7 metres at 8.75 g/t Au at Abbotts.

These intersections, often from relatively shallow depths, underscore the potential for economically viable deposits beyond the Crown Prince resource. The company’s CEO, Alex Passmore, highlighted the transformational scale of the Airstrip prospect, which hosts a gold anomalism zone extending over 5 kilometres, and the granted mining leases at Lydia and Abbotts that could become future production sites.

New Murchison Gold has leveraged modern exploration techniques, including slim reverse circulation drilling and detailed gravity surveys, to refine targeting and better understand the structural controls on mineralisation. The gravity surveys, conducted by Atlas Geophysics and interpreted by Resource Potentials, have delineated high gravity features correlating with mineralised zones, particularly at Lydia and Airstrip.

The geological setting of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt, characterized by Archaean volcanic and sedimentary sequences with major shear zones, provides a fertile environment for orogenic gold deposits. Historical workings dating back to the early 1900s have been revisited with contemporary methods, revealing extensions and new zones of mineralisation.
