GenusPlus Secures Strategic Role in Fortescue’s Decarbonisation

GenusPlus Group Ltd (ASX, GNP), a specialist in power and communications infrastructure, has been awarded three significant contracts by Fortescue Metals Group to support the mining giant’s ambitious decarbonisation plan in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. Valued at approximately $60 million, these contracts underscore GenusPlus’s growing footprint in the energy transition sector.

The awarded projects include the construction of 220kV transmission lines at Fortescue’s Solomon mine, the design and build of roughly 30 kilometres of 33kV overhead power distribution infrastructure at the Christmas Creek mine site, and the installation of fast chargers and pit power facilities at the Eliwana and Flying Fish mines. These works are integral to Fortescue’s commitment to achieving Real Zero terrestrial emissions by 2030, a target that involves transitioning to green power generation and upgrading non-process infrastructure.

Project Scope and Timeline

GenusPlus will deploy a peak workforce of about 80 personnel onsite, with access starting in October 2025. The projects are slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026. The scope includes erecting approximately 300 poles and installing overhead line conductors and associated hardware for the 33kV distribution network, alongside the construction of two fast chargers and four pit power facilities to support mining operations.
