American West Metals Limited (ASX – AW1) has announced a significant breakthrough at its Storm Copper Project on Somerset Island, Nunavut, with the discovery of a substantial copper anomaly named the Chevron Prospect. This anomaly, identified through an extensive regional soil geochemical sampling program, extends over 4.1 kilometres in length and 0.7 kilometres in width. The Chevron Prospect exhibits a geochemical signature and structural orientation remarkably similar to the established copper deposits within the Storm area, positioning it as a high-priority target for further exploration.

Expanding Known Mineralisation at Squall and Tornado

Complementing the Chevron discovery, recent reverse circulation drilling at the Squall Prospect has confirmed and expanded zones of high-grade copper sulphides. Notably, drill hole SR25-012 intersected 4.5 metres grading 1.4% copper and 2.6 grams per tonne silver, including a higher-grade interval of 1.5 metres at 3.6% copper. This mineralisation shares geological characteristics with the nearby Corona Copper Deposit, suggesting Squall may represent a faulted extension of this known resource.

Meanwhile, drilling at the Tornado Prospect has intersected widespread copper sulphides within the Allen Bay Formation and associated fault networks. These findings affirm the prospectivity of Tornado as a significant exploration area, with the structural features indicating potential for a large sediment-hosted copper system at depth.

American West Metals is advancing a comprehensive pre-feasibility study encompassing metallurgy, geotechnical assessments, and economic evaluations.
