Exploration Breakthrough at Music Well

Augustus Minerals (ASX, AUG) has announced encouraging results from a recent auger soil sampling campaign at its Music Well gold project, situated near Leonora in Western Australia. The program, which involved collecting 1,175 soil samples across key prospects including Clifton-Dodds, St Patricks, and Golden Dingo, has validated and expanded previously identified gold anomalies, notably at Clifton East.

The Clifton East anomaly has grown to an impressive footprint of approximately 1.2 by 0.6 kilometres and remains open to the west, suggesting the potential for further mineralisation beyond current boundaries. Additionally, the sampling has uncovered multiple new anomalies beneath soil cover, which will be targeted in subsequent exploration phases.

Strategic Focus on Clifton East

Chief Executive Officer James Warren highlighted the significance of these findings, emphasizing that the soil sampling has provided critical insights into the mineralisation system at Music Well. "We have barely scratched the surface with our exploration efforts thus far," Warren noted, underscoring the project's upside potential. The company plans to prioritise Clifton East for its maiden drilling program, aiming to test the depth and continuity of the gold mineralisation indicated by the soil geochemistry.

Geological and geophysical interpretations have revealed structural features such as east to east-northeast trending faults that offset granitoid contacts, creating dilatant zones conducive to gold-bearing fluid localisation. This improved understanding bolsters confidence in the prospectivity of Clifton East and adjacent areas.

Next Steps and Regulatory Considerations

While the company has completed Heritage Surveys with the local Darlot People over key prospects, the final Heritage Survey Report remains pending. This report is a prerequisite for ground disturbance and drilling activities, introducing some uncertainty around the timing of the upcoming drilling campaign. Augustus Minerals expects to receive the report soon and will update the market accordingly.

In parallel, a second phase of soil sampling is planned to further delineate targets and refine drill locations. The Music Well project, covering over 1,345 square kilometres, is strategically located within the prolific Leonora-Laverton Greenstone Belt, home to several significant gold mines. Augustus Minerals’ extensive landholding and systematic exploration approach position it well to unlock value in this highly prospective region.
