Boart Longyear Contract Secured: LF230 Rig to Drill TMT Project by Q4 2025
Belararox Ltd has signed a drilling contract with Boart Longyear, setting the stage for deep diamond drilling at its TMT Project in Argentina. Concurrent geophysical surveys are refining targets ahead of planned Q4 2025 drilling.
- Drilling contract signed with Boart Longyear for TMT Project
- Mobilisation of deep-capacity LF230 diamond drill rig imminent
- Combined MT/IP geophysical surveys advancing at Toro South and Central
- Survey results to refine drill targets before Q4 2025 drilling
- Operational milestone marks progression in Belararox’s exploration strategy
Drilling Contract Secured
Belararox Ltd (ASX – BRX) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration journey at the Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) Project in Argentina by signing a drilling contract with Boart Longyear, a globally recognised leader in drilling services and equipment. This agreement not only brings proven technical expertise to the table but also ensures access to a deep-capacity diamond drill rig, the LF230, which is scheduled for mobilisation to the site within the next two weeks.
Strategic Importance of the LF230 Rig
The LF230 rig’s deep drilling capability is particularly important for the TMT Project, which lies in a geologically complex region between the prolific El Indio and Maricunga Metallogenic Belts. Deep drilling is essential to unlock the potential of copper, gold, and other metals believed to be present at depth. The mobilisation of this rig marks a major operational milestone for Belararox, signalling the transition from preparatory work to active exploration.
Geophysical Surveys Sharpening Drill Targets
Alongside the drilling contract, Belararox is progressing a combined magnetotellurics (MT) and induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey across the Toro South and Central targets. These surveys cover an extensive 2,500 by 2,500-metre area and are designed to identify zones of low resistivity that often correlate with copper porphyry mineralisation. The data from these surveys will be critical in refining the final drill targets, ensuring that the upcoming drilling program is as focused and effective as possible.
Looking Ahead to Q4 2025
Belararox’s Managing Director, Arvind Misra, emphasised the importance of this phase, noting that securing Boart Longyear’s services and advancing the MT/IP surveys are key steps toward commencing drilling in the fourth quarter of 2025. The company is methodically preparing for this next chapter, with the expectation that drilling results will provide valuable insights into the mineral potential of the TMT Project.
Broader Exploration Context
The TMT Project is part of Belararox’s broader portfolio, which includes assets in Botswana, New South Wales, and Western Australia, targeting a range of metals critical to technology and renewable energy markets. Success at TMT could significantly enhance the company’s resource base and position it well within the competitive copper exploration sector.
Bottom Line?
With drilling mobilisation imminent and geophysical data refining targets, Belararox is poised for a pivotal exploration phase at TMT.
Questions in the middle?
- What specific drilling targets will emerge from the MT/IP survey results?
- How will the company manage operational risks associated with deep drilling in the Andes?
- What timeline and budget have been allocated for the drilling program and subsequent exploration phases?
