Boi Novo Project Grows to 75km² as Centaurus Restarts High-Grade Copper-Gold Drilling

Exploration Momentum Builds at Boi Novo

Centaurus Metals Limited has reignited its diamond drilling campaign at the Boi Novo Copper-Gold Project in northern Brazil, following the recent acquisition of the adjacent Rio Novo tenure. This strategic move has expanded the contiguous landholding to approximately 75 square kilometres within the world-renowned Carajás Mineral Province, a globally significant copper-gold and iron ore belt.

Drilling activities are currently focused on the Nelore West and East prospects, where previous campaigns have delivered encouraging high-grade copper and gold intersections. Notable results include intervals such as 11.5 metres grading 2.84% copper and 0.90 grams per tonne gold, underscoring the robust mineralising system present in the area.

Unlocking Potential in Untapped Rio Novo

The Rio Novo tenure represents a largely unexplored frontier, with over 65% of the area never subjected to modern electromagnetic geophysics or systematic soil sampling. Centaurus plans to deploy a comprehensive suite of exploration techniques including drone magnetics, fixed-loop electromagnetic surveys, detailed geochemical soil grids, and geological mapping to generate and prioritise drill targets. This methodical approach aims to replicate the discovery success experienced at Boi Novo and the company’s Jaguar Nickel Sulphide Project.

Historical drilling at Rio Novo, though limited, has intersected significant copper mineralisation with grades up to 4.08% copper, hinting at the prospectivity of the ground. The proximity of Rio Novo to known deposits such as the BHP-OZ Minerals Grota Rica deposit further enhances its exploration appeal.

Strategic Positioning and Infrastructure Advantages

Situated just 25 kilometres from Parauapebas, the regional logistics hub, Boi Novo benefits from excellent infrastructure including proximity to major copper processing facilities operated by BHP and Vale, as well as access to a state highway and high-voltage power lines. These factors collectively support efficient exploration and potential future development.

Centaurus is advancing exploration at Boi Novo concurrently with the development of its Jaguar Nickel Sulphide Project, maintaining a strong financial position to support both initiatives. The company is also prioritising the completion of a strategic partnering process for Jaguar, which could unlock additional value and resources.
